Hello, Ames!

We are pleased to announce the grand opening of our newest location in Ames, Iowa, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The 91,000-square-foot showroom, located at 329 SE 5th Street in southeast Ames between Target and Walmart, will serve as one of the largest home furnishings retailers in central Iowa. This marks the first full-service furniture store to open in the Ames market in more than two decades.

We are grateful for the warm reception from the Ames community throughout the development process and look forward to opening our doors. This store represents a significant investment in the region, and we are committed to providing an exceptional selection of quality home furnishings backed by knowledgeable service.

According to Bryan Whitt, our store manager in Ames, "...there has been great anticipation in the community and we are eager to open.  The mission at Furniture Mart is transforming houses into homes, customers into friends, and employees into family. We look forward to helping families shop local once again and getting to know the business and university communities that make Ames such a special place."

The new store will feature an extensive assortment of leading furniture and mattress brands, including Ashley, La-Z-Boy, Flexsteel, England, Purple, Beautyrest, Tempur-Pedic, and our newest collection from Joybird. In-store design consultants will be available to assist customers with product selection and space planning at no additional charge. The location is expected to create approximately 20 full and part-time positions across sales, warehouse, delivery, and design services.

The Ames store brings our Furniture Mart footprint to 22 locations across 4 states.  And our entire footprint to nearly 70 stores across Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, and Wisconsin.   

This growth comes as we were also recently recognized as Retailer of the Year by the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association (IHFRA) for outstanding customer service, operational excellence, and community leadership.

We remain dedicated to our founding mission by building lasting relationships with Ames residents, Iowa State University faculty and students, and the greater Story County business community.

The store will observe regular business hours beginning November 25, with extended hours planned for the Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend.
